Apart from making contact with
a member of the club, we require you
to fill in and post back to us a declaration form that states you
are under no restriction
from holding firearms and / or ammunition. This must be with the club secretary
BEFORE attending any of our shoots. If you have a current firearm
certificate then this can be waived and filled in AT the first shoot.
A club application form will
need to be filled in together with a sponsorship
form. The application form speaks for itself and requires 2 current photographs.
One for your membership card (if you are accepted) and one for the club records.
The sponsorship form requires 2 sponsors to vouch for your integrity as
a stable
and sane person. This can be club members (if you know them personally).
So you filled in the forms and you've been accepted into the fold. What now?
Well it's a case of come and join us in your / our chosen activity and attend
the shoots. The club requires that you attend at least 4 shoots per year
in order
to maintain full membership. There are times when this can be waived due
to personal circumstances or your job taking you away that preclude your
ability
to attend.
This would have to be noted and discussed with the club secretary by yourself.
You must keep the club informed if you want us to support you as a shooter.
The
club doesn't need explicit details, but if we are contacted by the police
or licensing
authority we need to be informed and ready to answer any questions.
The club encourages members to hold their own firearms and ammunition. This
doesn't mean to say that you cannot be a member if you don't want to own
your own firearm,
but sometimes club guns and ammunition aren't available.
In order to have the club support your application for a firearm certificate
you will need to be a full member for 6 months or more. When you are ready
to take the necessary steps to get your Firearms Certificate (F.A.C.) you
must ask the club secretary if the
club will support your application. This is dependant on you being with the
club for the required minimum period and being scrutinised by the committee
as a suitably
safe individual to hold firearms. This is based on your attitude as a member
of the club, and your safe handling of firearms.
It is advisable that when applying for a firearm certificate for the first
time you should seek help from members of the club as they will be able to
advise
you on most if not all aspects of the club and shooting sports in general. |
