SCIS 2000

So Year 2000 with all its inherent fears came along but Glen and I were having none of it. Instead we made the journey yet again to SCIS 2000.

1) As you can see the US lads had brought along some of the same and some"different" toys to play with!!
2) All we managed to bring was Howard (and lots more beers). And he's definitely different! Poor Howard's lead a sheltered life and he didn't believe that so many firearms with so much ammo belonging to so few people could turn up in one place. Was he surprised! Of course he needed proof so people back home would believe him so he had to pose – a lot! He even borrowed Tom's SVD among other things...
3) But it was George's lad who showed Howard how it's really used.
4) We all had...
5) ...a go with this...
6) ...Russian RPM machinegun...
7) ...kindly loaned and fed with ammo by Greg.
8) Greg also brought along this MG74 it was captured from a cargo ship on its way to the Argentinian Army during the Falklands conflict. The gun is mounted on a rather natty tripod with an excellent recoil buffer system. When fired the gun just slides back and forth. There is a lever that operates the firing mechanism and if gently pulled can make the gun fire single shots, which help zero it. With that done just pull the lever fully up and off it goes in full-auto mode. The gun is chambered in 7.62 x 51 and unlike its WW2 predecessors has its cyclic rate at about 600 rpm.
