SCIS 2001

Well this was certainly a milestone in trips to the US. The shooting was as usual excellent, but our normal 10 day excursion was extended another 4 days due to the September 11th tragedy. It goes without saying that our hearts went out to all the victims and their families as we watched the horror unfold. We were in a Motel in Ohio and had flown in the day before. So seeing American Airliners used as missiles only 24 hours after we'd been on them certainly put our "hearts in our throats". A lot of heavy drinking was done that day!! "There but for the grace of God"...... So to the Second Chance Invitation Shoot 2001 This year saw the lack of Glen(UK) but the US was revisited again by myself, Howard, David; who was there in 98 and Fred; who tried to make in 98 and didn't.

Next
1) Just a few of the firearms kindly given to the cause of testing by the Brits!!
2) Me having a go with an FND as per 1998; only this one belongs to Larry.
3) Plus we had Fred who tried to make it in "98" and only got as far as Dublin. Seen here with a CETME in 7.62 Nato which was easy to shoot due to its mild recoil impulse.
4) And David made it back. Here he is using George's (in the background) Garand in 30 06. You can see the spent case in the air.
5) But we didn't just play with rifles. We also got to have a go with pistols (once again, the UK government not withstanding).
6) We have David with a wibbly wobbly Webley MkIV in .455...
7) ...Fred with a Ruger Redhawk in .357...
8) ...and Fred also demonstrating a Glock 36 in .45acp.
