SCIS 2002

With SCIS 2002 the only exception made was we went to the June gathering (we were trying to hedge our bets with the run of bad occurences in previous Septemners). This could have been a mistake in terms of the very wet weather we had for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Sunday started off overcast but eventually became sunny and warm. So we got up to much of the same as last year. With with a few extras'!! We had a couple of "new boys" we had to break in. It was like walking a puppy when they saw all the guns on display. We had to keep them on a tight leash in case they got carried away and started drooling over the guns.

1) Meet Mark...
2) ...and John. You can always tell a "newbie" - they have that silly "the cat that's got the cream / Uzi" expression.
3) We had some new/old favourites.
4) It's Howard with a standard Mk1/3 Bren and 28 round magazine followed by the same Bren with not-so-standard 100 round drum magazine. I know the Bren gun's owner was grateful for testing/repairing such a venerable old machine. It stood up to many hundreds of rounds being put through it without missing a heartbeat after we replaced the return spring. You'll note the intense concentration and pursed lips - none of us could figure what that was all about!!
5) This PPSH 41 was adapted to take 9mm. But sadly it was less than reliable. It would shoot-jam shoot-jam continously. Still an interesting piece, especially when you learn to press the correct mag release button and drop the mag and mag-adaptor and spend the next few minutes wondering how the hell the next mag fits in!!
6) And a Thompson 1928A1 that failed to function - especially when it's run out of ammunition!
7) Once again Greg shows how to load his MG74...
8) ...and then lets Glen Unload it for him.
